I'm not sure of the date of the photograph, but this postcard was one of three I purchased with the date "3 May 1912" written on the back. The photograph shows the large fireplace in the Checker (now the entrace to the Unicorn Theatre). The Checker dates to the 1260s and is one of the oldest surviving parts of the Abbey. Tentatively attributed to A.E.H. London - I've seen a near identical copy of this with their name on the back.
